Car sales in January-February were up 18.7% from a year earlier
In February, the production and sales of automobiles were 1.813 million and 1.737 million, down 25.2% and 31.4% from the previous month respectively, and up 20.6% and 18.7% year-on-year respectively.
From January to February, the production and sales of automobiles reached 4.235 million and 4.268 million respectively, up 8.8% and 7.5% respectively year-on-year, up 7.4 percentage points and 6.6 percentage points respectively compared with January.

Passenger car sales rose 27.8 percent in February from a year earlier
In February, the production and sales of passenger vehicles totaled 1.534 million and 1.487 million, up 32.0% and 27.8% year-on-year respectively. By model, 704,000 cars and 687,000 cars were produced and sold, up 29.6% and 28.4% year on year respectively. SUV production and sales reached 756,000 and 734,000 respectively, up 36.6% and 29.6% year on year respectively. MPV production reached 49,000 units, down 1.0% year on year, and sales reached 52,000 units, up 12.9% year on year. Production of crossover passenger cars reached 26,000 units, up 54.6% year on year, and sales reached 15,000 units, down 9.5% year on year.
From January to February, the production and sales of passenger cars reached 3.612 million and 3.674 million, up 17.6% and 14.4% year-on-year respectively. By model, the production and sales of passenger cars reached 1.666 million and 1.705 million respectively, up 15.8% and 12.8% year-on-year respectively. SUV production and sales reached 1.762 million and 1.790 million respectively, up 20.7% and 16.4% year on year respectively. MPV production reached 126,000 units, down 4.9% year-on-year, and sales reached 133,000 units, up 3.8% year-on-year. The production and sales of crossover passenger cars reached 57,000 and 45,000 units respectively, up 39.5% and 35.2% year-on-year respectively.

In February, a total of 634,000 Chinese-brand passenger vehicles were sold, up 27.9 percent year on year, accounting for 42.6 percent of the total passenger vehicle sales, with the market share basically unchanged from the same period last year.
From January to February, the cumulative sales of Chinese brand passenger vehicles reached 1.637 million units, up 20.3% year on year, accounting for 44.6% of the total sales of passenger vehicles, and the market share increased by 2.2 percentage points year on year. Among them, 583,000 cars were sold, up 45.2% year on year, and the market share was 34.2%. SUV sales were 942,000 units, up 11.7% year on year, with a market share of 52.6%. MPV sold 67,000 units, down 18.5 percent year-on-year, with a market share of 50.3 percent.
Commercial vehicle sales fell 16.6 per cent in February from a year earlier
In February, the production and sales of commercial vehicles were 279,000 and 250,000 respectively, down 18.3 percent and 16.6 percent year-on-year. By model, the production and sales of trucks reached 254,000 and 227,000, down 19.4% and 17.8% year-on-year respectively. The production and sales of passenger cars were 25,000 and 23,000 respectively, down 5.3% and 3.6% year-on-year respectively.
From January to February, the production and sales of commercial vehicles were 624,000 and 594,000 respectively, down 24.0% and 21.7% year-on-year respectively. By vehicle type, the production and sales of trucks reached 570,000 and 540,000 respectively, down 25.0% and 22.7% year-on-year respectively. The production and sales of passenger cars both reached 54,000 units, down 10.8% and 10.9% year-on-year respectively.

Sales of new energy vehicles increased 1.8 times year-on-year in February
In February, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were 368,000 and 334,000 respectively, up 2.0 times and 1.8 times year-on-year respectively, and the market penetration rate was 19.2%. By model, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles reached 285,000 units and 258,000 units respectively, up 1.7 times and 1.6 times year-on-year respectively. The production and sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles reached 83,000 units and 75,000 units respectively, up 4.1 times and 3.4 times year-on-year respectively. The production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were 213 and 178 respectively, up 7.5 times and 5.4 times year-on-year respectively.
From January to February, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were 820 thousand and 765,000 respectively, up 1.6 times and 1.5 times year-on-year respectively, and the market penetration rate was 17.9%. By model, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles reached 652,000 units and 604,000 units respectively, up 1.4 times year on year. The production and sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles were 168,000 units and 160,000 units respectively, up 2.8 times and 2.5 times year-on-year respectively. The production and sales of fuel cell vehicles reached 356 units and 371 units respectively, up 5.0 times and 3.1 times year-on-year respectively.

Car exports rose 60.8 per cent in February from a year earlier
In February, the export of completed automobiles was 180,000units, up 60.8% year-on-year. By vehicle type, 146,000 passenger cars were exported, up 72.3% year on year. Commercial vehicle exports amounted to 34,000 units, up 25.4% year on year. 48,000 new energy vehicles were exported, up 2.7 times year on year.
From January to February, 412,000 vehicles were exported, up 75.0% year on year. By model, 331,000 passenger cars were exported, up 84.0% year on year. Commercial vehicle exports totaled 81,000 units, up 45.7% year on year. New energy vehicles were exported 104,000 units, 3.8 times higher than last year.
